See below the list of candidates who have filed nomination papers for the upcoming 2026 Rural Municipality of Grey election. 

Candidates’ nomination papers are required to disclose any offences that they have pleaded guilty to, or been found guilty of, under the Criminal Code (Canada), the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (Canada), the Income Tax Act (Canada), or The Income Tax Act of Manitoba. These disclosures must be published on the local authority’s website by the Senior Election Official.  Candidates are not required to disclose an offence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Canada), the Young Offenders Act (Canada), or an offence for which they were granted a pardon under section 748 of the Criminal Code (Canada).  Please see disclosure beside the candidates name.

Reeve or Councillor

If you are interested in running for Reeve or Ward Councillor (Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4 or Ward 5) please find information below to assist you.  Reeve and each ward will have one (1) position available.

Note for Reeve/Councillors only:  

Prospective municipal election candidates must register with the SEO during the registration period before they may begin to accept contributions, incur expenses, fundraise or borrow money for their campaign.  Candidate registrations will be received at the RM of Grey office (27 Church Avenue East Elm Creek, MB) from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the following time frames:

For Reeve - Between May 1, 2026 and September 22, 2026

For Councillor - Between June 30, 2026 and September 22, 2026

Local Urban District (Elm Creek, Haywood or St. Claude)

If you are interested in running for one of the Local Urban District Committees (Elm Creek, Haywood or St. Claude) please find information below to assist you.  Each Local Urban District will have three (3) committee member positions available.

Voters List

The Voters list will be updated for election day.  Changes can only be made until 4:30 p.m. on September 22, 2026.  The SEO or CAO/ASEO will be available to update the voters list by adding names of voters who are entitled to have their names on the list, deleting names of persons who are not entitled to have their names on the list and making such other corrections of errors to the list as required.

A persons is eligible to have their name added to the voters list if they are:

1)  a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years of age on election day and

2)  a resident of the local authority for at least six (6) months prior to election day or are a registered owner of land in the               municipality for at least six (6) months prior to election day.

Multiple Non-Resident Voters

If you are a non-resident and have more than two persons on title to your land, only two title holders are able to vote in the election. It is the responsibility of these title holders to appoint two persons to be added to the voters list.  The following form should be filled out appointing the two persons who are appointed to vote and same should be provided to the SEO/CAO or brought on election day.

What If I Own Land in Multiple Wards? Can I Vote in Each?

You are only able to cast one ballot/vote for a Reeve, one ballot/vote for a Council Member and one ballot/vote for Local Urban District Committee Members (if applicable) during the general municipal election. If you own land in multiple wards, but live in one ward you MUST vote in the ward you reside in regardless of whether or not there is an election there.

If you are a non-resident and own land in multiple wards, please contact the SEO to inform them which ward you wish to vote in. If you do not inform the SEO of the voters list you wish to be on, you will be assigned one by the SEO.
